About the Role:
The Demand Planner Role is a key position within the IBP structure responsible for utilizing next-generation demand planning tools to generate a multivariate statistical forecast considering variables such as category growth, market share, pricing, promotions, sell-out, stock in trade, and economic factors influencing demand.
The demand planner will create statistical forecast models to support the monthly IBP process, using mathematical and statistical trends to identify opportunities and risks. The Demand Planner will own and drive statistical forecast accuracy performance to achieve targets, collaborating with the IBP Lead on history adjustments to ensure robust statistical forecasts.
The Demand Planner is responsible for data integrity, ensuring that systems are maintained and updated with the correct history to deliver the most accurate forecast for the business.
The Demand Planner will be expected to display the following skills, among others, to be successful:

• Model algorithms using the latest data and technology.
• Display critical thinking and digital dexterity to translate complex data into clear business insights and actions.
• Understand the principles that underpin demand planning, including formal education in demand planning and execution.
• Understand the principles that underpin statistical forecasting.
• Experience in demand planning in a similar environment using statistical tools, building block assumptions, opportunities and risks, and S&OP/IBP to agree plans.
• Maintain a statistical dataset, including data cleansing, item relationships, and product families to facilitate the delivery of a statistical forecast with minimal rework, using the appropriate Diageo tool.
• Understand the principles and practices that support Advanced Statistical Forecasting, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, to support existing and future statistical modelling and improvement within Diageo.
• Manage an advanced building block management process, digitally driven, updated using demand sensing and insight, and fully integrated with forecast and O&R to deliver seamless integration with other business plans.
• Create and maintain appropriate commercial scenarios as required. This includes articulation of key building blocks and assumptions, the impact of volume, price, promotion, inventory, and other related drivers, and the link between decision options and related outcomes.

This role operates within a very complex and evolving network with the following dimensions:
- Monthly cross functional collaboration with interdisciplinary departments and country Exec.
- All SC&P interfaces (function, category)
- Global IBP Process Owners
- Digital tools such as APO/OMP, Anaplan, Power BI, and other analytics platforms.
Top Accountabilities:
• Proactively works with the IBP Lead, owning the statistical forecast and highlighting deviations to shipment and/or depletion trends.
• Use and maintain the planning software as the primary forecasting system tool.
• Collaborate with IBP Lead and other departments on all forecast history cleaning activities, including documenting adjustments and assumptions (market trends, seasonality, promotions).
• Maintain statistical parameters for "best fit" models and generate a rolling 18-month baseline.
• Maintain system master data including CVC creation, disaggregation factors, and attributes.
• Analyze outliers through appropriate reports and make corrections.
• Support scenario planning for promotions, innovation, and major events (duty, economic changes, etc.) through statistical analysis.
• Provide reports and insights to stakeholders to maximize the use of statistical forecasting.
• Facilitate a monthly Demand Planning cycle, including collecting inputs from relevant business stakeholders, aligning key changes, and driving consensus on commercial inputs and impacts.
• Create and maintain an integrated demand plan showing a realistic bottom-up view of expected demand, combining statistical forecasting, performance insights, building blocks, assumptions, and business acumen.
• Generate multivariate advanced Statistical Forecasting, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
• Create and maintain the statistical forecast and demand plan for the market monthly, integrating all relevant data sources.
• Support the management of Opportunities and Risks in the Demand Plan.
• Support the analysis of Demand Plan performance (accuracy and bias).
• Maintain an efficient integrated digital process to deliver the monthly demand plan, including master data and system change management.
• Support the development of market scenarios and plans as required.
• Develop a strong understanding of dynamic market drivers and how they impact demand, using this knowledge to validate or challenge assumptions.
• Support the Pre-Demand Review and S&OE process as required.
• Drive enhanced capabilities leveraging analytics, data modelling, demand sensing, and AI for value creation.
• Support the digitization of planning processes through automation and elimination of manual tasks.
• Continuously improve business processes within the area of work.
Provide key input to S&OP/IBP process.
- Participate in the IBP process to align upon the consensus forecast.
- Review statistical input to Strategic Planning and AOP/OMP processes and challenge projected growth based on historical trends.
- Collaborate with IBP Lead and to conduct root cause analysis to identify forecast error drivers and take corrective actions to improve forecast accuracy and bias performance.
Continuously improve statistical forecasting method:
- Test and implement new models.
- Apply and share best practices.
- Support system developments and automation initiatives.
Experience required/Skills/Capabilities
- Baseline understanding of the end-to-end Supply Chain Planning processes: Supply Planning, DRP, Inventory Planning, Conversion, Logistics, Procurement, and Customer Service.
- Demonstrated proficiency in statistics and forecasting methodologies, with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across commercial, finance, and supply functions.
- Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, and presentation.
- Proven ability to identify and drive process improvements through automation and simplification.
- Strong attention to data governance and master data accuracy.
- Ability to perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to quantify business implications.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Power BI is a plus.
- Knowledge of SQL for data analysis is a plus.
Previous Successful Experience:
- Minimum 3 years' experience working within the Demand and/or Supply Chain Planning process; CPG industry preferred.
- Experience with advanced planning software; familiarity with machine learning-enabled tools is a plus.
- Practical experience in Demand Analytics to analyze performance trends, marketing and sales activity impact (including pricing), and interpret implications for demand plans.
- Practical experience of IBP in a similar role and/or business.
- Ability to manage change effectively to drive IBP adoption across markets.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in IBP/S&OP environments.
- First-hand planning experience in IBP, S&OP, S&OE, and Demand Planning.
- Experience establishing and tracking forecast KPIs (Accuracy, Bias, Value of Forecast).
- Experience applying demand sensing to short-term planning horizons (S&OE).

- Experience in S&OP/ Demand Planning working in a multinational CPG / FMCG
- BSc in engineering, supply chain, data science/statistics/applied mathematics, economics. Additional MBA or MSc in Supply Chain Management or similar would be desirable.
