Our history dates back to 1905, when we began to produce castings in Elyria, Ohio, for the machine tool, gas engine and other industries. Our Hodge Foundry location began operation in 1876 and built a reputation for quality casting from its Greenville, Pennsylvania location. The two foundries joined to form a single company in 2008, which is today known as Elyria Foundry. Position: Foundry Process Engineer
Position Summary:
Provide administrative and technical support to the Engineering Dept. and manufacturing operations. Responsible for the design, procurement, and implementation of new and/or existing tooling. Contribute to reducing scrap and cost reduction through the application of engineering principles.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain a schedule of tooling release dates for production, including new tooling build, revisions, rigging changes, and repairs.
Evaluate quote packages and provide Sales with pattern cost estimates.
Review casting drawings and develop a manufacturing plan.
Prepare write-ups and establish key process parameters for new parts.
Use of CAD to establish pattern parting/mold design.
Use MagmaSoft simulation software to design and troubleshoot new and existing rigging.
Communicates significant issues or developments identified in the manufacturing process and provides recommended process improvements to management.
Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of engineering activities.
Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
Manage the Pattern Storage Department activities & personnel.
Effectively communicates with other departments.
Communicates professionally with internal and external customers & suppliers.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelors Degree in Material Sciences, Mechanical engineering or a related field
7-10 years minimum Foundry Engineering experience in ferrous castings preferred
Proficient with CAD (Creo, Solidworks,etc.)
Proficient with casting simulation software (MagmaSoft, ProCast, etc)
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Meterials Science preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk.
Indoor and outdoor climate conditions during all seasons and in varying temperatures.
Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Close and distance vision necessary as well as depth perception and ability to see colors.
Use fingers and hands to manipulate objects, controls, and tools.
Although hearing is not necessarily required, individual must be able to communicate with co-workers and customers.
Position will require individual to travel occasionally to customer sites, and training.
