This position oversees and directs the quality control (QC) aspects of assigned projects to ensure the Registry Partners (RP) standard of high-quality abstraction occurs. This includes working with other members of the management team to define the abstracting procedures, training and providing ongoing support to the ODS abstractors on assigned projects.
Essential Duties:
Comply and follow the QC process as outlined and defined in the Quality Control Policy and Procedure.
Conducts a re-abstraction of the initial cases for each ODS starting a new project.
Conducts a weekly re-abstraction quality control review and/or quality control data report review for each ODS on assigned projects to ensure quality standards are consistently being met.
Completes weekly case log verification for assigned projects, as outlined in Case log Verification Policy and Procedure.
Monitors QC compliance and completion for assigned projects.
Conducts all quality performance related coaching calls and participates in other quality performance related incident calls.
Investigates and documents area of concerns/noncompliance issues as outlined in the Disciplinary Action Policy and Procedure.
Works in collaboration with Registry Operations Manager or Accreditation Consultants on assigned projects.
Creates and maintains project parameters and/or other project documentation to define the expectations and requirements for assigned projects.
Prepares and provides training(s) to staff on assigned projects.
Provides ongoing QC guidance and support to ODSs and analysts who are abstracting on assigned projects.
Trains and monitors the performance of the Quality Analyst(s) assigned to the project.
Communicate any client or staff concerns to the Sr. Registry Operations Services Director, Accreditation Services Director and Sr. Quality and Education Director.
Submits abstracting/coding questions to the Cancer Forum or SEER Inquiry.
Participates in internal and external educational activities, as requested. Ensures understanding and compliance with all updates/changes in the collection and coding of cancer data.
Performs as a Project ODS, when needed.
Provides timely response, per RP policy, to employee and client questions/concerns as needed.
Attends and actively participates in conference calls, as requested.
Fulfills committed work hours to meet the requirements of clients, employees and the company during normal business hours and a cross standard business days (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in your time zone) and during non-standard hours (evenings, nights, weekends and holidays) as needed. Use of the company phone when out of office to maintain availability and assist with the expected response time, within four business hours of call, email or request for assistance. Completes timesheets and case logs in real time/daily and finalizes with signature by Sunday at midnight. Conducts timesheet completion reviews for assigned staff.

Requirements
Oncology Data Specialist (ODS), required.
At least two years of ODS registry abstracting experience and use of all cancer registry industry related reference manuals, required.
At least one year of ODS quality control experience, required.
At least two years of registry abstracting experience in a CoC program, preferred.
At least two years of Registry Partner experience as Quality Analyst or Registry Operations Manager, preferred.
National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer (NAPBC) knowledge and experience, preferred.
At least two years of registry management or other health related management experience, preferred.
Associates’ or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field, preferred.
Intermediate skill level in computer software, industry related cancer registry software systems and EMR applications, required.
