About the Organization - Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy
Since 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, partners, donors, and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco.
The Parks Conservancy engages at the intersection of national park sites, local communities, social justice, and climate resilience. Collaborating with partners, our staff are dedicated to enhancing public awareness and providing volunteer and educational opportunities in the parks. About the role - Director of Facilities & Fleet
As a key member of the Operations Branch team, the Director of Facilities & Fleet is responsible for the effective management of the Parks Conservancy’s facilities and fleet, including leading the Facilities & Fleet unit within the Operations Branch. The Director will serve as a partner to the Chief Operations Officer and other members of the Operations Branch in leading facilities and fleet strategies services and support as designated and assigned.
The Parks Conservancy operates out of three types of facilities – revenue generating, program services, and administrative. With approximately 24 unique facilities spread over three counties – including incredible and historic places like Alcatraz and Muir Woods – the Director will help to ensure that our complex operations run smoothly for all things facilities and fleet. All facilities are situated within the rich natural and cultural landscapes of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), and most facilities are considered historic. The Director is responsible for maintaining the Parks Conservancy’s portfolio of buildings and grounds, all set within the National Park Service unit of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, as well as our fleet of vehicles.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader and inspire a culture of safety across the organization. This position will require adaptability, mindful listening, and empathetic and compassionate communication with staff from varied backgrounds and cultures. Our Director of Facilities and Fleet will be passionate about creating a culture of safety, inclusivity and accessibility with respect to our facilities and fleet. They will manage their team and collaborate with colleagues in alignment with the Parks Conservancy values.
