The Industrial Distribution program is seeking an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) or Lecturer to begin Fall 2025.
The Industrial Distribution (ID) program is a nationally recognized program preparing students for careers in technical sales related areas. The program enjoys significant industry support with a rapidly growing student enrollment. A successful candidate for this position will be able to teach in at least three of the following professional areas: materials science, fluid power, mechanical power, manufacturer/distributor relations, purchasing for wholesale distribution, wholesale distribution branch operations, and/or the theory and application of technical products. For tenure-track appointments, scholarly research and publication related to the teaching areas is also required. Additional responsibilities may encompass advising and mentoring students, participating in student recruitment efforts, aiding in the coordination of the biannual ID Career Event, providing guidance to the student run Industrial Distribution Organization (IDO), serving on departmental, college, and university committees, and potentially teaching one or more general studies courses within the Industrial Technology (ITEC) Department. Must be willing and capable of seeking external funding for program development, research, and student scholarships. A successful candidate must also be willing and capable to establish career connections and opportunities for students by developing and maintaining industry partnerships within wholesale distribution, manufacturing, and industry related national associations.

Requirements
Minimum Required Qualifications: A candidate must have earned a master’s degree in industrial distribution, industrial management, business administration, or related field and at least 5 years of recent and relevant US based industry experience to be eligible for a lecturer position. To be eligible for a tenure track position, applicant must have an earned doctorate or ABD status and at least 5 years of recent and relevant US based industry experience. Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language and effective use of technology-based teaching tools are required.
Preferred Qualifications: An earned doctorate in a mission appropriate field such as Technology Management, Engineering Education, Industrial Technology, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or closely related field to be eligible for an Assistant Professor tenure track position. Candidates who are ABD with substantial progress toward completion of the dissertation will be considered. Documented successful teaching ability at the university level, curriculum development, and evidence of building partnerships, service to national associations, and service to students. Evidence of potential to conduct appropriate research leading to peer reviewed publication. Preference will be given to candidates with recent and relevant industrial distribution and/or technical sales experience. Expertise in multiple technical areas noted in the job description.
