Description

The Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion and Racial Equity has system-wide responsibility to develop and implement workforce DEI strategies that transform team member. by building an inclusive and equitable culture where all team members have equal opportunities to learn and grow. This includes building the DEI muscle and cultural competency capabilities of our leaders and team members through the use of   assessments, educational and mentoring programs, diversity scorecards, entity DEI plans, and partnerships with Materials Management to design and launch a Supplier Diversity Program.

This role will drive Wellforce’s focus on integrating DEI practices into system and entity level strategic plans; aligning educational activities; creating and aligning policies and practices ensure equity; develop internal talent and attract diverse candidates; and foster key relationships to execute DEI strategy across the system.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops an integrated system-wide diversity and inclusion strategy with demonstrable and measurable results and implement workplace diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Builds and articulates the business case for diversity, racial equity and inclusion.
  • Conducts assessment of current diversity efforts to inform Wellforce 3-years diversity and inclusion strategy. This includes assessing feedback from staff through surveys and focus groups and from Diversity Councils, CEO’s Cabinet, Physician Leaders and Community partnerships; analyzing workforce metrics, benchmark data and employee engagement feedback; identifying key trends.
  • Lead the implementation of DEI work plans at entities (Hospitals, HeathCare centers, and Physician organizations) partnering with DEI Committees at the local level.
  • Advises, partners, and collaborates with other HR functions to consult and co-owned diversity recruitment strategies, development and retention of a diverse workforce; ensures that diversity initiatives are aligned with the talent management strategy.
  • Consults with key stakeholders, leaders, HR generalists and clinical leaders in building strategic diversity initiatives that align with the overall health system goals, cultural needs and that take into account’s system realities
  • Develops Diversity and Inclusion Scorecard and collects, compiles, analyzes, interprets, and reports data.
  • Manages the development of multi-cultural network groups (Affinity Groups, Employee Resource Groups), including developing charters and supporting group educations and programming and design conferences and for networking events and other internal diversity work teams.
  • Develops and oversees DEI Councils, Committees, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), providing inspirational leadership, guidance, and direction. Ensures the groups have the appropriate resources and level of influence within the organization.
  • Implement a system wide Diversity & Inclusion Learning and Development strategy, including leadership academy for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for leaders and employees at all levels, including employee and career development utilizing the latest learning design methodologies.
  • Identifies short/long term skill gaps and manages development investments to close those gaps, accelerate internal development, retain high performers and ensure development of talent at all levels.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Management to design and implement a Supplier Diversity Program, develop training to raise awareness of diverse community vendors, educate purchasers to increase supplier diversity to increase equity and economic growth.
  • Lead the design and implementation of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion internal awards and external national recognition program.
  • Develop and manages, DEI operating budget, and advises on expenditures.
  • Manages external relationships with diversity professional organizations local chapters and national associations (Examples: National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives, Asian Healthcare Professional Associations, etc.) multi-cultural organizations and community partners.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Training, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related fields
  • Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion, Cultural Intelligence and Racial Equity preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in leading a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) function
  • 5+ year implementing DEI function in healthcare and/or relevant industries
  • Leadership of a supplier diversity programs in partnership with the Materials Management Team
  • Background in building a Diversity, Racial Equity & Inclusion strategy from the ground up, partnering with health system leaders and HR through and integrating the work in organization strategy
  • Expertise and experience in developing and executing Racial Equity, Anti-racism, Cultural Competence, diversity and inclusion programs in healthcare and/or relevant industries a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and collaboration skills with the ability to interface with personnel at all levels directly or virtually
  • Possess the ability to think big-picture, change management, detailed deliverables, and the capacity to manage complex and matrixed organization
  • Ability to forge trusted partnerships with executive level stakeholders
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
