Company History
H-J Enterprises, Inc., was started in 1969 with one goal in mind, to give the best service possible to its customers. With 800 square feet and a few machines H-J Enterprises was born. We have grown through the years to over 250 employees and over 170,000 square feet of manufacturing space. From early on we have had our own tin plating department. We realized that this was necessary in order to keep our promises to our customers. In our 40th year we are still one of the few connector manufacturers that has it's own in-house tin plating department.
The next addition was the foundry. Added in 1971, our foundry today is one of the most high tech foundries in the world. We use a process called sodium silicate CO2 process. This process allows us to hold shell molding tolerances with a green sand cost. Coupled with our CAD-CAM-CNC produced patterns we are able to produce a cleaner casting that needs less grinding, which means a lower cost to the end customer. Our in-house pattern facility uses the latest in high tech. We draw the part in a computer in true solid 3-D. We then create a tool path for the part to be machined from a solid block in the Vertical CNC machining center. With this process, H-J is able to prove the design before we make the final pattern. This process also allows the customer the chance to get sample castings from a single impression mold. These castings are not wood or wax but the real alloy in the exact shape and size as the final casting.
H-J added a Faraday room in 2008 for production testing of our epoxy molded medium voltage bushings. The double-shielded Faraday room blocks out electromagnetic radiation to ensure ambient noise does not effect on our partial discharge testing. Our production test system allows us to perform AC withstand and partial discharge measurement on bushings up to 46kV class.
H-J added a cyanide-free silver plating line in 2008 for rack plating of copper alloys in order to reduce our lead times on silver-plated components. We are able to provide bright white industrial plating to without the added costs of cyanide destruction. Using beta backscatter technology, we can precisely control the plating thickness to your specifications.
H-J also has a world class machining department. We machine over 600,000 castings a week through our facility. In order to achieve this high volume we build our own machines. We use the latest in PLC's and other controls to provide high quality machined parts. With our specialized equipment, Horizontal CNC lathes and Vertical CNC machining centers, we are able to provide just about any type of machining you might require. From the part that runs millions a year to the 2 to 5 pieces a month, H-J can provide you with what you need when you need it.
H-J provides the final assembly of our castings along with other components. H-J is one of the largest buyers of electrical porcelain in the United States. With this buying power we are able to provide our customers with a very cost competitive assembly. When the parts arrive at your door they are ready to be put to use.
With the best lead time in the industry, H-J Enterprises allows you to keep a lower inventory, thus providing you with a lower cost. At H-J every employee is and will always be an inspector. H-J has built our company on our quality. We are known for "Quality Products of International Reputation." Once you deal with us you will be spoiled for life. A bold statement? Yes, but try us and you'll agree.
We are a totally integrated manufacturer from casting design to the finished assembly. We do not buy, machine, tin plate or assemble our castings on the outside. We provide the complete service in-house. This allows us to have complete control over quality, service and availability of our products.. We are one of the few connector manufacturers that can make this statement.
