About the City of Windsor and nearby Regions (http://www.windsor-essex.info)

The City of Windsor and its suburbs are ethnically diverse and have one of the most community supportive populations in the country. The surrounding area contains some of Canada’s best agricultural lands, and is rich in tourism, heritage, and recreational resources. The only Canadian city situated south of the United States, Windsor boasts a temperate climate with the longest growing season in Canada. This allows for bountiful agriculture and some of Canada’s finest vineyards and wineries. Extensive shores on the Great Lakes system provide ample opportunity for water activities. The world’s busiest inland waterway, the Detroit River, separates the community with a regional population of 365,000 from an urban metropolitan area of more than four million people. At the same time, a short commute by tunnel or bridge connects Windsor to all the amenities of a large city. These include leading professional teams in all sports, a world-renowned art institute and symphony orchestra, and continual world-class performances in pop concerts, classical music, theatre, and other art forms.

About the Future of the University of Windsor

These are very exciting times on campus with a major enrolment boom matched by the unprecedented hiring of more than one-quarter of our faculty complement within a three-year time period. With a very clear sense of direction, four major building projects recently initiated, more and more research success and a growing national profile, the University of Windsor has much to offer new faculty and students. We have revitalized our campus with new buildings, renovated classrooms(http://www.uwindsor.ca/superbuild), and new programs(http://www.uwindsor.ca/units/superbuild/itlp.nsf).

The University of Windsor is a place where you can really make a difference and we are dedicated to providing you with the best possible support. I believe that this campus really does offer "The Best of Both Worlds" (the name of the strategic blueprint adopted in 1998) in that the University of Windsor has developed a first-rate university that both provides an excellent undergraduate education for those in its primary catchment areas and it has also built an increasingly strong international reputation in its major areas of strength.
